Class 2 Truck Licence

Most rigid truck work around the southern Wairarapa starts with a Class 2, from rural deliveries and farm supply runs to council contract work. The Class 2 covers rigid vehicles from 6,001kg to 18,000kg GVM. You need your Class 2 learner licence before the course. Find the full course details on our Class 2 truck licence training page.

Class 4 Truck Licence

Stock trucks, bulk spreaders and the bigger rigid units working Wairarapa farms sit in Class 4 territory. The Class 4 covers rigid vehicles over 18,000kg GVM, and you need your Class 4 learner licence first. See the Class 4 truck licence training page for course dates and details.

Class 5 Truck Licence

Truck and trailer work, from hay and baleage cartage to line-haul over the Remutaka, needs a Class 5. It covers combinations over 25,000kg, with the Class 5 learner licence as the prerequisite. Full details on the Class 5 truck licence training page.

Truck Work in South Wairarapa

South Wairarapa is rural trucking country. Martinborough sits at the centre of a nationally known wine area, and harvest season means tanker, bin and freight movements on top of the year-round vineyard supply runs. Across the plains it is dairy, sheep and beef, with stock trucks, feed runs and ag contractors keeping rural carriers busy.

Featherston has long been a rural servicing and distribution point at the foot of the Remutaka Range, and State Highway 2 over the hill is the freight link to the Hutt Valley and Wellington. Add the growth in all three towns and the civil and roading work that comes with it, and a heavy vehicle licence goes a long way here.

The licence that gets you into that work is about 37 minutes from Martinborough, at our Masterton venue. Book your course or call 027 287 3748.
